IN BRIEF: A goal with just over 20 minutes remaining by Jessie Smith was enough to propel SUNY ESF over Illinois Tech.
ON THE FIELD: Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half but that was not for a lack of opportunities as both teams were able to create chances. In the 68th minute of play Jessie Smith scored for SUNY to take the lead. That would prove to be the deciding goal in the game. Illinois Tech goalkeeper, Roxanne Myers recorded eight saves and Adrianna Maron led the Scarlet Hawks with two of her three shots putting put on frame.
NEXT UP: SUNY ESF moves on to face the second seed Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in tomorrow's semi-final match-up at 11:30 A.M. Illinois Tech will face Carlow University at 9:30 A.M. in a consolation game.
