ON THE PITCH: Thursday's quarterfinal matchup between host West Virginia Tech and University of Maine Machias started out slow, with rain drenching the turf pitch at Shoenbaum Stadium. WVU Tech quickly came alive in the 23rd minute behind a goal from Prince Idornigie. WVU Tech followed with two more goals in the next six minutes to take an early 3-0 lead. Joaquin Rodriguez and Sven Biansumba had goals in the second half to seal the deal for WVU Tech, send the defending National Champions into the semi-finals on Friday.
